According to the latest statistics of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), North America and Europe account for a combined total of 46% of all cosmetic procedures performed in 2010 and 12 of the top 25 countries with the highest overall cosmetic improvements . With over 8.5 million procedures performed between the two continents in the last year, Dr. Ram Kalus, a plastic surgeon in South Carolina, says European and North American influences on aesthetic trends exert significant pressure on the international market. Over the years, Dr. Kalus says he has seen a movement in the cosmetic preferably aid in the United States toward a more European feel, especially in breast augmentation in Charleston.
