From next week, Wednesday will be plastic collection days in the city. Every Wednesday Conservancy staff on tricycles, who collect door to door garbage, ask specifically for the plastic waste, paper-thin carrying bags and caps which are packaged products like pulses and spices for use in laying roads.
"We have also made arrangements for the collection of plastics by the students of Chennai schools and private schools. Some private schools, including Alpha Velammal group and the group have already agreed to create awareness among students and ask them to bring plastic that citizen Protected personnel will collect the body Wednesdays.
